His design brings a sense of movement and lightness, which mostly came from the conceptual imagery of a sailing ship that always appears in his design and artworks. His idea captured by Aksan Sjuman, an award-winning music composer who also develops beautiful handcrafted musical instruments under a well-known brand Sjuman Instruments for years. FREQUENTY ASKED QUESTION FAQ

What are the specifications of this grand piano?

  • This is the type of piano that belongs to the largest class, 9 foot piano or 275 cm. The size of this piano is used for large concerts. The technical term is the Grand Piano Concert.

  • In general term we know what a Grand Piano is and also the difference with Upright Piano. We also often hear the term Baby Grand Piano, which is a small grand piano. Maybe the types of pianos that we see everywhere, at home, at shows, in musical instrument shops are all three types. Upright, Baby Grand and Grand Piano. Grand Piano Concert is actually very rarely encountered. Maybe at this time there are only a few shops that show it off, that's all, when it is sold, the store (which is generally the main agent of a particular brand) may not necessarily be able to order quickly in the 'stock' of a Concert Grand. If we see a classical music concert on stage with enough string players and very large piano, chances are that's a Grand Piano Concert. There are so many Grand Piano owners in his house, or the luxury hotel lobby that we see, while a Grand Concert measuring more than 270 cm, is very rare.

What is the ‘Piano system’ used to create this sound? ini?

  • Sjuman + Renanda piano uses the best piano system parts in the world on the basis of our commitment to create the best work. The piano parts in our work are special orders for our concert pianos and are also used by some of the best class brands in the world from America, Europe and Japan. Technically speaking, we use Carbon Fiber on the piano action of WNG and Renner Bluepoint on the hammer. Strings are also different on most pianos that use copper, we use Nickel Plated which is corrosion resistant. The parts we mentioned earlier came from the best manufacturers in the world. The grand piano product industry in general is mass production, which means that in each type thousands of units can be produced annually. Although there is no official category of piano quality qualifications, the actual piano class can be seen from the piano pricing, which can mean the quality of the 'parts' of the piano system is also different. Because a Concert Grand is the flagship product of every piano brand, of course, this type always tries to use the best parts. While the type of Grand Piano or other smaller types do not require the best system. Even focused on 'affordability' or a balance between price and quality.

How about the wood?

  • The wood used in a grand piano is divided into two functions. First, which is directly related to sound, and the second is that which is used to protect piano functions and aesthetics. For sound, which is also called the 'soundboard', we use 'spruce' wood that only exists in the northern and central hemisphere. This wood is considered to have the best sound effects and has become the standard sound wood for musical instruments. Stradivarius violins, for example, use this type of Spruce wood. As for the piano body, we use Indonesian wood that has been processed to international standards.

What kind of wood Used in the finish material?

  • For our standard design, finishing polished piano black and Macassar Ebony in certain sections. Other types of finishing can be 'custom' based on the order.

What about the character's voice?

  • The sound character of each piano brand is different, nothing is better or worse, it all returns to the listener's taste. Because we are familiar with Pop and Jazz music which is dominated by American musicians and also the use of Digital Piano which is very dominated by Japanese technology, we unconsciously assume that the sound character is the 'right', Aksan Sjuman has a vision of the piano sound character , like an artist. Piano Sjuman + Renanda will have our own unique sound. But our direction tends to be a balance between European and Asian style.

Why it took 12 months to order new unit?

  • Actually 12 months is a pretty good time to compromise between quality and speed of manufacture. To achieve good sound quality, wood requires a long time to adapt to the environment and the piano body itself. Also keep in mind that 80% of the making of this piano uses hands with the best quality attention. Technology in making this also uses the best machines but in the end skill and a high level of accuracy and patience are needed to produce a good work.
